Political sociology -the examination of political systems through a sociological approach- is a relatively new field of study, one that is fast gaining importance for both the political scientist and the sociologist. To date, the literature available to the student has been slight, most of it scattered in scholarly journals or embedded in texts primarly devoted to other subjects.
