Interviews and questionnaires as data collection tools have become major approaches to the collection of information for basic research, for policy development, and in support of business decision making. Regardless of the final objectives of a study, the disciplinary orientation of the analyst, or the eventual use of survey data, there are data management and statistical computation tasks that are common to every use. Computers can be employed to advantage throughout the process of converting newly-received data into meaningful statistical summarizations. The effective sequencing of combined manual and computer-based processing operations is the subject of this book.
