he Republic of Korea is now bracing up for its next miracle. After the establishment of the Republic in 1948 and three years of the Korean War, it has made a remarkable economic growth and political stability. Its achievement of the last half a century, which is often called the “Miracle of the Han River,” has caught attention from the international community and given hope to many countries and people in the world. We, Koreans, believe that people have infinite value and unlimited potential as irreplaceable assets to society. This belief was provide by the development of Korea and is giving a clue to the next miracle. The Korean edition of this book is titled In-jae-dae-guk (i.e. the powerhouse of talents), as it is about making all Koreans talents. Through its education, science and technology, Korea is preparing for its next miracle, nurturing talents who will create immeasurable value. I hope that this book will serve as a catalyst to draw more attention to and support for Korea from researchers and practitioners around the world as we continue our journey toward a new future.
