Choice and the politics of allocation : a developmental theory / David Apter

Por: Apter, DavidIdioma: Inglés Detalles de publicación: New Heaven and London : Yale University Press, 1971Descripción: 212 p. : gráfISBN: 0300014449Tema(s): CIENCIAS POLITICAS | TEORIA POLITICAOtra clasificación: INAP-AR:OSZ/0040 Resumen: One approach, a liberal notion, seeks improvement of the conditions of democracy by reforming political mechanisms so that they more adequately reflect public need. Marginal persons are poor or outside the scheme of things. Improve their lot and the goals of stability and harmony will be achieved. Such a liberal viewpoint pervades the American discipline of political science, including group-interest and pluralistic theories of politics, and has resulted in redifinition in such terms of the significance of all events, from the Gracchi revolts in the Roman Republic to the American Revolution. The other aproach, a radical one, is embodied in the proposition that proper recognition of the claims of a society's marginal persons will result in the continuous transformation of society itself.
