Por: Brown, M. PaulColaborador(es): CLAD | Congreso Internacional del CLAD sobre la Reforma del Estado y de la Administración Pública, 11 GuatemalaDetalles de publicación: Halifax Dalhousie University. Faculty of Management. School of Public Administration 2006Descripción: 11 pTema(s): CAPACITACION DE PERSONAL PUBLICO | CAPACITACION GERENCIAL | CARRERA ADMINISTRATIVA | CONGRESO CLAD 11-2006 | ENSEÑANZA A DISTANCIA | FUNCION PUBLICA | INSTITUCION DE CAPACITACION | CANADAOtra clasificación: INAP-AR:CD 45 Congreso XI Resumen: E-learning, which can be defined as the use of computer mediated communications to develop skills and knowledge, has in recent years become an increasingly prominent option in the in-service training of public service professionals. There is every indication that it will be even more central in the future. It is therefore important that e-learning providers in universities and elsewhere understand the critical success factors in e-learning for this clientele.Based on the Dalhousie University experience in offering an online MPA Management for managers and a web-assisted policy formulation and analysis workshop for operational managers, as well as insights from the literature and from colleagues around the world, this presentation stresses collaboration between all three stakeholders-government organizations, learners, and learning providers-in promoting public service competencies, 'just in time' curriculum design, participant sensitive, subject-centered blended instruction, and administrative and technical support for a seamless learning experience. These in place, e-learning could well become the venue of choice for public service professionals seeking in-service training possibilities.
